Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV personality who is a chef, and a former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on Food Network. Food Network. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious eateries located in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. She pursued her passion for working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I loved every minute of it." It was impossible to learn how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduating, chef Burrell lived in Italy for a year, studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She also worked in La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) in Tuscany. In Italy she gained an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. It has had a profound impact on how Burrell cooks. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens up the lives of struggling children. She also is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate in which she promotes awareness of juvenile diabetics. She travels frequently around the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and an invited speaker, where she talks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne said she felt lucky to be able to share her true passion with other people.
